I am a lifelong gardener and self-taught cook who grew up on a small family farm in the Appalachian foothills of upper East Tennessee. I studied ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Tennessee, where I earned a masters degree. I have written numerous books on topics as diverse as aquarium keeping and starting a small business, but my more recent work focuses on gardening, especially food gardening.
My latest book is Appalachian Cooking. It will be out in 2018. In the meantime, enjoy the recipes posted here about once a month.
